Configuring the services to start automatically requires a service control script to be placed in /etc/init.d. These scripts can be made by adding the start, stop and status commands in the template Luke has.

Gasp (not used)
Expired…only needed with enterprise. No longer used.
Contact:Reece Neel [neel@aerosft.com]
Reece>"Just go to www.aerosft.com and follow the link to download GASP." If you need to download the GASP binaries again, you can do so through our web site using the pasword: gas9Drst
I used essential.tar.gz and redhat62-x86.tar.gz. These are first stored in /usr/local/Gasp, and copied to /usr/local and untared themselves (tar -xvf foo.tar) into /usr/local/AeroSoft. lam-* stuff did not seem to be required.
I deleted the temporary Gasp directory.
The variables did not seem to matter; I did set up the links though:
ln -s bin-redhat62-x86 bin
Check the machine's Hostcode:
/usr/local/Aerosoft/bin/asi_elmadmin -c
Enter the key,
Reece>"I've generated a 6 seat license key for AOE.
Key: 6759 8858 9812 4222 2003 5550 8128 4722 6477 5048 1798 6261 3"
This message is in response to Aerosoft Support Case #27246 Hi Steve, Your license key for host id (64/1084 9825 3917 031) on licenseserver2.aoe.vt.edu is: 8465 0670 5804 8441 2826 1796 8934 3134 5266 9094 8759 7183 6
then start the manager:
asi_elmd -s0 -l log.asi_elmd
The -s0 option sets the startup time to zero after the daemon is launched. Log_file is the name of a file where you want asi_elmd to record license usage and errors messages. A suggested filename for the log_file is $AEROSOFT_HOME/log.asi_elmd
Gasp should work at this point. The password for v4.3.0 is bal3tuja
asi_elmadmin -l normally returns an incorrect build error
Mathematica
wolfram.com was helpful for this
To start the license server:
cd /usr/local/Wolfram/MathLM ./mathlm
or (prefered)
service mathlm start
For the server:
Get the current version of mathlm from Michael Williams in the math department at VT - williams@vt.edu
Unzip in a directory in the home directory and run the installer
./MathLMInstaller
The license is the same for the server as on the ita.vt.edu site (L3157-0387)
# mathlm -help (will give the machineID which is also in the file) (7109-56773-72943) /usr/local/wolfram/MathLM/mathpass [root@licenseserver2 MathLM]# cat mathpass #!licenseserver2.aoe.vt.edu 7118-17384-49101 L2312-9487 2160-294-455:100:8:20050901:CB #!licenseserver2.aoe.vt.edu 7109-56773-72943 L2312-9487 0850-485-408:100:8:20060901:CB !licenseserver2.aoe.vt.edu 7109-56773-72943 L3157-0387 9614-806-019:100:8:20070901:CB
for the password, go to http://register.wolfram.com and enter the L3157-0387
select “I want to register a product and generate a password.”
Use the network section of the web form and enter 100 machines as it seems not to matter.
Version 7.0 password(s) were generated for license: L3157-0387 Here is the content for your mathpass file: licenseserver2.aoe.vt.edu 7116-46002-60680 L3157-0387 2872-521-982:100,100,400,400:8:20100901:CB
Add ! in front of the above line
If just updating minor versions, edit /usr/local/Wolfram/MathLM/mathpass with the new data from the email sent from this site. then,
# /etc/init.d/mathlm restart
/usr/local/Wolfram/SysAdminGuide.pdf is also helpful.
Version 8 license manager
mount the iso
mount -o loop Mathematica_8.0_MathLM_MULT.iso /mnt/mathlm cd /mnt/mathlm/Unix ./MathLMInstaller
Using the MachineID, go to the address below which is in the installation instructions on network.software.vt.edu. You must have vt.edu email address.
